Error on Running Morrowind After Installing Mge Continue Running Executable

I recently got a new computer with windows 10 on it, and when i went to install morrowind i realized that mge xe causes an instant crash on startup. all other mods i have including other versions of mge so i know that mge xe is the source of the problem. has anyone else encountered this issue and managed to solve it?

Have you tried compability settings???
Make sure it's not running windows 8 , Try running it in xp mode.

ive tried some but im not sure if i alsotried xp mode, ill try that

You probably already know these things BUT!!!
Don't install anything on the C: drive if you can avoid it (Don't install anything in program files)
Make sure all your Applications are running with administrator previliges (Mash exe,Mlox exe,Morrowind exe etc)
If Windows 10 Blocks you from from choosing administrator under compability settings you'll have to use file explorer to set it.
Be sure to check the settings from time to time,Cause win 10 has a bad habit of resetting them (Especially after updates)
Keep and eye on windows defender and make sure to ignore anything related to your game if its thinking of erasing files from your installation.
Enjoy your time in Morrowind and tell that little fetcher (Fargoth) To stop sending me letters about his damn ring

how do i move it out of program files? do i just move the whole steam folder to a different location?

1.Exit Steam.
2.Make a backup of your Steamapps folder (Just a precaution if anything goes wrong)
3.Delete all the files except the Steamapps folder and Steam.exe
4.Make a new folder anywhere else than C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files(x86) i prefer not using The C:drive at all
5.Cut and paste the remaining content to your new folder (D:\Games\Steam\ perhaps)
6.Launch Steam and Log into your account again and it should update your new location.
7 Verify your game cache files and it should work (This will also be your new location that games are downloaded at)
The more secure solution would be.
1.Completely uinstall your game, Delete it through Steam or exit Steam and use the original uninstall application for Morrowind (If anything remains just delete it) Also delete the Morrowind save folder located in C:\Users\Your Name\Documents\My Games. And finally check your Windows registry, Use the search box in win 10 and type regedit, Locate the bethesda folder (If its there) UnderHKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\VirtualStore\MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Bethesda Softworks. AND DELETE IT.
2.Uninstall Steam and reinstall it to another Drive like D: or E:, This really sucks as you will need to redownload your games again.
3.Before you install Morrowind again make sure UAC is turned off, Type UAC in the search boy And turn it completely off (It will require a restart of your pc).
4.Install Morrowind and set Administrator rights on the Exe or launcher as soon as it's installed.
5.DON'T INSTALL MGE YET, Launch the game and wait until you exit the Census and exise building and save your game.
6.Install MGE and see if it works (Remember to set MGE to run as administrator as well)
Again tell Fargoth to buck off

A couple of months ago I moved my Steam library from my C: drive to E: (new SSD). I followed these instructions and it was painless: Moving a Steam Installation and Games

i moved my steam library yesterday just as you said and when i started my game i was able to load saves in interior locations but the game would crash when it tried to load exteriors. now today the game is back to crashing on start again like before. i would also like to mention i installed mge xe through mgso and i also cant access mgso options since moving my steam library out of program files.

1 - See if it's a problem with MGE XE.
Rename "d3d8.dll" and "dinput8.dll" in Morrowind folder to "d3d8.old" and "dinput8.old". Launch Morrowind, try and duplicate previous crashing conditions.
Does it crash? If it still does then not an MGE XE problem.
If it doesn't then update MGE XE (search on Nexus for latest version), the one in MGSO is years out of date. Seem to remember that latest MGE XE beta fixes some issues too. So install latest full release of MGE XE then install the latest beta over the top. Both uploaded here by same author.
2 - See if it's a mod problem.
Rename "d3d8.old" and "dinput8.old" in Morrowind folder back to "d3d8.dll" and "dinput8.dll" to get MGE XE back.
Start a new game without mods. Deselect all ESMs and ESPs in the Morrowind Launcher (except the three Bethesda ESMs)
Does it crash? Hardware or software problem.
If it doesn't: mod problem.
3 - Start identifying mod problems
Download the latest mlox from here on Nexus (the one in MGSO is years out of date) and run that. Read its comments to see if there're known issues with your load list. Let mlox re-arrange your load order.
Does it crash? If so then post on here with your load order (from the bottom of morrowind.ini) and the contents of your warnings.txt
I've never used MGSO so I can't help out there. Someone uploaded a guide to MGSO somewhere on Nexus, do a file search for "MGSO" and that may help out. I know you'll need at the least john.moonsugar's Unofficial Patch for MGSO.
